Documentary 'Drawing a Life' Chronicles Canada's Most Famous Illustrator Geoff McFetridge

A new documentary titled 'Drawing a Life' directed by Dan Covert and executive produced by Spike Jonze, Amanda Adelson, and Andre Andreev traces the career of Canadian illustrator Geoff McFetridge. Born in 1971, McFetridge graduated from the California Institute of the Arts and began his career as art director for the Beastie Boys' magazine Grand Royal. He has created minimalist illustrations for major brands including Nike, Hermès, Uniqlo, and Apple. For Apple, in 2020 he designed a series of watch faces that change with the seconds. The film premiered at the Hawaii International Film Festival in October and won an award at the SXSW Film Festival in Austin. It features contributions from Sofia Coppola, with whom McFetridge collaborated on the 1999 film 'The Virgin Suicides'. The documentary explores his childhood in a quiet Canadian suburb, his experiences in California, and the cultural influences in his poetic and essential visual language.
