Docufilm on Franco Battiato 'La voce del padrone' Hits Italian Cinemas

Marco Spagnoli's docufilm 'La voce del padrone,' dedicated to the late Italian singer-songwriter Franco Battiato, will screen in Italian cinemas from November 28 to December 4, 2022. The film features testimonials from Willem Dafoe, Carmen Consoli, Morgan, Nanni Moretti, Oliviero Toscani, Alice, and others, weaving a choral portrait of the artist. It is produced by RS Productions in collaboration with digital platform ITsART and had its world premiere at the Taormina Film Fest in summer 2022. The title references Battiato's iconic 1981 album 'La voce del padrone,' which includes classics like 'Summer on a solitary beach,' 'Bandiera bianca,' 'Cuccurucucù,' and 'Centro di gravità permanente.' The film is structured as a multi-level journey guided by Stefano Senardi, Battiato's longtime friend and record producer. Spagnoli describes Battiato as a unique artist and emphasizes that Senardi's presence helps frame his human, artistic, and intimate dimensions.
