Docu-film 'Le tre vite di Aquileia' explores the UNESCO city's millennial history

A new documentary titled 'Le tre vite di Aquileia' aims to introduce the general public to the thousand-year history of the Friulian city, which became a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1998. Commissioned by Fondazione Aquileia, the film was produced by 3D Produzioni in collaboration with Sky Arte and Istituto Luce Cinecittà, directed by Giovanni Piscaglia. It aired on Sky Arte on November 22 and will be repeated in numerous replays. The documentary follows a chronological timeline with thematic digressions that explore various topics in depth. Experts and those who work daily to enhance the city's heritage guide viewers through the journey. Director Giovanni Piscaglia commented: 'Aquileia is a city with many souls, which lived through historically important seasons for Italy as a protagonist, and it was a challenge to tell its story through a film that conveys the complexity of its historical legacy and the vitality of the great cosmopolitan city it was in past centuries. Not just ancient history, the city is narrated up to the present day, investigating how history has become an object of study, excavation, musealization, and protection.'
