Dobson Self-Portrait to Tour UK, Engaging Youth
Tate and the National Portrait Gallery have unveiled plans for a national tour of William Dobson's Self-Portrait, aimed at engaging youth across the United Kingdom. Jointly acquired in 2025, the portrait will be showcased at Hull's Ferens Art Gallery and Oxford's Ashmolean in 2027, before returning to the National Portrait Gallery in London. The painting is currently on view at Tate Britain alongside Portrait of The Artist's Wife. Funding for the tour is provided by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, Bjorn Saven CBE, the David and Emma Verey Charitable Trust, and the Tavolozza Foundation, with special events organized by Tate Collective Producers.
