Dittrich & Schlechtriem Opens Second Location in Cologne

Berlin-based gallery Dittrich & Schlechtriem is expanding to Cologne, opening a new exhibition space at Roonstraße 108 in the Belgian Quarter on September 4. The inaugural show, "In This Economy!?", features artist Zuzanna Czebatul and coincides with the DC Open gallery weekend. The expansion marks the gallery's 15th anniversary, as it was founded in 2011. The Cologne venue will operate year-round alongside the Berlin headquarters, serving as a platform for collaboration with artists, institutions, collectors, and the public in the Rhineland. The gallery cites its longstanding connections to the region; gallerist André Schlechtriem hails from the Rhineland and studied in Cologne. The new space occupies a corner building in the Belgian Quarter, previously home to several galleries and exhibition initiatives, including Jan Kaps, Echo, and most recently Gathering. According to the gallery, the location combines the visibility of a storefront with the spatial possibilities of a standalone exhibition space.
