Disobedience Archive Exhibition at Castello di Rivoli Examines 40 Years of Global Resistance Movements

exhibition · 2026-04-20

The Disobedience Archive (The Republic) exhibition took place at the Castello di Rivoli in Turin during the spring and early summer of 2013, representing its inaugural presentation in Italy. Curated by Marco Scotini, the project was developed over nine years, examining four decades of resistance and anticapitalist movements from 2001-2002, as well as repressive measures like the Patriot Act. The exhibition included 22 videos presented in a 'Parliament' style, addressing topics such as education, Italian resistance, and the Arab Spring. Featured works included films by Oliver Ressler and Zanny Begg, along with Alberto Grifi's documentary on the 1976 Festival of the Proletariat. It also displayed protest materials and emphasized Italy's Bene Comune movement, with Stefano Rodotà campaigning for the presidency in April 2013.
