Disobedience Archive (Canopy for Broken Time) at Migros Museum Zürich

exhibition · 2026-05-12

The Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst in Zürich presents Disobedience Archive (Canopy for Broken Time), the most comprehensive iteration of Marco Scotini's ongoing video archive initiated in 2005. Featuring fifty documentary and art films, the exhibition explores resistance, social struggle, and collective self-organization at the intersection of art and activism. The selection responds to ecological crises, political polarization, technological acceleration, and global conflicts. Raqs Media Collective was invited to engage with the archive, introducing the shamiana—a temporary canopy from South Asian everyday life used for gatherings, protests, and rituals—as a spatial metaphor for shared time and community. The exhibition runs until May 25, 2026, curated by Scotini with Nadia Schneider Willen, Tasnim Baghdadi, and Yasmin Naderi Afschar. Artists include Samir Abdallah, Ravi Agarwal, Wang Bing, Ursula Biemann, Harun Farocki, Zanele Muholi, and many others.
