Disney’s untold story revealed in new History Channel docu-series

A new six-episode docu-series titled "Disney – 100 anni di magie" premieres on History Channel starting December 3, airing every Tuesday at 21:50. The series unveils behind-the-scenes stories of the Walt Disney brand, from the creation of Mickey Mouse to innovations in theme parks and entertainment. Episode one covers the birth of Mickey Mouse, originally conceived as a rabbit named Oswald, sold to Universal. After losing rights, Walt Disney and animator Ub Iwerks created Mickey using three coins for circles. Episode two focuses on Disney's response to financial hardship with the 1937 release of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs," the first full-length animated film with sound and color. Episode three details the opening of Disneyland in 1955. Episode four explores Disney merchandising, including the iconic Mickey Mouse watch designed by Kay Kamen. Episode five looks at the 1960s and the EPCOT project, a futuristic city concept halted by Disney's death in 1966. The final episode highlights six Disney innovations that transformed entertainment. The series also features a clip of a young Walt Disney before founding his dream factory, emphasizing his persistence in the animation industry when cartoons were silent shorts. Mickey Mouse debuted in "Steamboat Willie" on November 18, 1928, at the Colony Theater in New York.
