Disney+ Releases An Almost Christmas Story by David Lowery and Alfonso Cuarón

Disney+ has released "An Almost Christmas Story," an animated short film directed by David Lowery and produced by Alfonso Cuarón. The story follows Moon, a young owl born in an American inland forest, who becomes trapped in a Christmas tree destined for Rockefeller Plaza in New York City. Disoriented by the city's lights and noise, Moon attempts to escape the skyscraper jungle and return home, meeting Luna, a girl who helps him. The short premiered at the Tokyo Film Festival in October 2024 and is available on Disney+ in English, featuring voice actor John C. Reilly. It is one of two Disney Christmas shorts released in 2024; the other is "Il bambino e il suo amico polpo" (The Boy and His Octopus Friend), a four-minute film by Oscar winner Taika Waititi, made in collaboration with Make-A-Wish International, which also explores a child-animal bond.
