Dirk Braeckman's First UK Solo Exhibition at GRIMM London

GRIMM London presents 'Although', the first UK solo exhibition by Belgian artist Dirk Braeckman, running from 23 April to 30 May 2026. The show features recent analogue works that emphasize process, materiality, and ambiguity. Braeckman's photographs, rooted in darkroom experimentation, resist easy interpretation through dust, scratches, and chemical residues. Key works include 'L.J.-L.S.-22', a portrait where the sitter turns away, and 'ECHTZEIT#117-24', produced for his 2024 museum exhibition at FOMU in Antwerp, which incorporates collage and re-photography. The exhibition draws on vernacular photography and anonymous images, exploring themes of time, memory, and the physicality of the photographic object. Braeckman also completed 'Elongation', a site-specific commission for Brussels Zaventem Airport featuring two 90-metre friezes.
