Dior's collaborations with female artists: 10 key moments

other · 2026-04-27

Dior creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri has consistently collaborated with female artists for runway shows and installations. For the 73rd Sanremo Festival, Chiara Ferragni wore a Dior dress with a stole by Claire Fontaine, the duo founded by James Thornhill and Fulvia Carnevale in 2004, featuring the phrase "Pensati Libera". For Haute Couture Autumn-Winter 2022-2023, Olesia Trofymenko created a set titled "The Flow" depicting the tree of life. Eva Jospin designed a baroque grotto set for the Prêt-à-Porter Spring-Summer 2023 show, inspired by Buttes Chaumont, Villa Borromeo Visconti Litta, and Palazzina Cinese. The seventh edition of #LadyDiorArt featured Dorothy Iannone, Minjung Mim, and Zhenya Machneva among 11 artists reinterpreting the bag. Anna Paparatti's 1965 paintings "Il Gioco del Non Senso" and "Le Ieu de l'Absurde" inspired the Spring-Summer 2022 set. Lucia Marcucci created a stained glass backdrop for Prêt-à-Porter Spring-Summer 2021. Silvia Giambrone installed wax-covered mirrors at Versailles for Autumn-Winter 2021-2022. Judy Chicago built a womb-like structure with 21 tapestries at Musée Rodin for Haute Couture Spring-Summer 2020. Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's "We Should All Be Feminists" T-shirt appeared in Spring-Summer 2017. Penny Slinger transformed 30 Avenue Montaigne into a dreamscape for Haute Couture Autumn-Winter 2019-2020.
