Dior Opens Bamboo Pavilion in Tokyo's Daikanyama District

architecture-design · 2026-03-19

Dior has unveiled its Bamboo Pavilion in Tokyo's Daikanyama district, a 1,800-square-meter space combining architecture, fashion, art, and gastronomy. The building reinterprets the façade of 30 Montaigne in golden bamboo, crowned with the star motif. The grounds include a conceptual garden by plant hunter Seijun Nishihata, a koi-filled pond, terrace, and indoor botanical installations. Inside, spaces are dedicated to ready-to-wear, accessories, jewelry, and bespoke services. Interiors feature washi paper, lanterns reinterpreted from the Lady Dior bag, and collaborations with Japanese artists: Hana Mitsui's embroidered tapestries using igusa, TAKT PROJECT's handwoven glass furniture, we+'s sculptural furnishings from recycled materials, and Azuma Makoto's floral installations including a paludarium. Café Dior is helmed by Michelin-starred chef Anne-Sophie Pic, offering a menu inspired by Dior's archives with dishes like sunflower-inspired vegetables and matcha-yuzu desserts.
