Diogo Pimentão's Oblique Gravity at Galerie Yvon Lambert
Diogo Pimentão's exhibition Oblique Gravity at Galerie Yvon Lambert in Paris (June 6 – July 30, 2013) presents works that merge drawing, performance, and sculpture. The show features Cri (diagonal) (2011), graphite concretions arranged like a mouth emitting breath; Stand Turn (Monochrome) (2013), a large paper sculpture coated in liquid graphite, folded and rolled to create curves from floor and wall; Fascia (2013), a group of black panels made from folded paper sheets covered in liquid graphite and tooled with metal implements, showing iridescent reflections; and Through (Stack) (2013), a paper parallelepiped on the floor with visible creases. The works evoke minimal sculpture references to Sol LeWitt, Carl Andre, and Richard Serra, while offering a sensual renewal of that history. Pimentão recently moved to London.
