Diógenes Moura Launches Short Story Collection 'Minhocão' in São Paulo

publication · 2026-04-23

Writer, curator, photographer, and independent editor Diógenes Moura launches his new short story collection 'Minhocão' on January 25 at Livraria Martins Fontes in São Paulo. Published by Editora Noir, the 163-page book draws inspiration from the surroundings of the Elevado Presidente João Goulart, a famous viaduct in the city. Moura, born in Recife and having lived in Salvador for 17 years before moving to São Paulo in 1989, made notes over years about the events and inhabitants of the apartments flanking the viaduct. Journalist Gonçalo Junior, on the book's back cover, describes Moura sitting on the curb of the Minhocão, seeking lives on both sides of the elevated lanes. Filmmaker Beto Brant, in a flap text, highlights that the title brings a collection of people inhabiting the unlit vein of the city center. The launch event takes place from 3 PM to 6 PM at Avenida Paulista, 509.
