Dimora Ulmo: A Restaurant-Gallery Opens in Matera's Historic Palazzo Torraca

Four months ago, Dimora Ulmo debuted in Matera, Italy, within the historic 18th-century Palazzo Torraca. This innovative restaurant-gallery is spearheaded by Nico Andrisani, a self-taught interior designer with 25 years of experience in the hospitality sector. He collaborated with chef Michele Castelli and sommelier Francesco Russo, both hailing from Basilicata and former employees of Osteria Francescana in Modena, where they worked under chef Massimo Bottura. The venue comprises four distinct areas: a main hall, a private dining room (once the master bedroom), a wine cellar, and a terrace. Andrisani meticulously restored the architecture, maintaining elements like a 1935 heating system and 19th-century flooring, while incorporating modern minimalist decor. His private art collection adorns the walls, featuring works by renowned artists such as Mario Schifano and Franco Angeli. Plans for the future include themed exhibitions paired with unique culinary experiences.
