Digitalive, the multimedia performing arts section of the Romaeuropa Festival, returns to the Mattatoio in Rome from October 11 to 13, 2024. Curated by Federica Patti, the seventh edition features international artists exploring digital performance, interactivity, and the human-machine relationship. Highlights include Paul Boereboom and Leon Rogissart's VR performance 'Ascension VR' with live soprano Marie van Luijk and countertenor Arturo den Hartog; Tempo Reale's participatory sound action 'Foosball'; and dmstfctn ft. Evita Manji's AI-themed 'Waluigi's Purgatory,' premiered at Serpentine London in February 2024. Giacomo Lilliù presents 'Teatropostaggio' on Telegram, a reinterpretation of Goldoni. The program emphasizes creative, alternative uses of technology over hype, continuing a collaboration with RE:Humanism since 2019. Digitalive aims to build a community around experimental digital performance, attracting both traditional theater audiences and electronic/digital scene specialists.
