Digitalife 2016: Immersive Exhibit at MACRO Testaccio

The Digitalife: Immersive Exhibit, curated by Richard Castelli, is part of the Romaeuropa Festival and runs until November 27, 2016, at MACRO Testaccio in Rome. The show features a few carefully selected works that aim to objectify and de-virtualize digital art. Kurt Hentschläger presents ZEE, an installation that immerses viewers in a dense fog with strobe lights and alarm-like sounds, evoking club culture's sensory overload. Shiro Takatani, co-founder of Dumb Type, collaborates with Castelli on 3D Water Matrix, a modular waterfall controlled by 900 magnetic valves, generating visual and sonic compositions like ST/LL and Christian Partos' The Sorcerer's Apprentice. The Roman collective None debuts Deep Dream_Act II, a mirrored environment with swirling images and faces from social media, allowing interaction via Facebook. The Percro lab from Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna of Pisa presents social robotics for elderly and domestic care, closing the exhibition on a socially engaged note.
