Digital Antibodies: Three Artists Challenge Tech at MAXXI Rome
The exhibition "Anticorpi" (Antibodies) at MAXXI Rome is curated by Ilaria Bonacossa alongside co-curator Eleonora Farina. It showcases the works of Danilo Correale (born in Naples, 1982), Irene Fenara (born in Bologna, 1990), and the artistic duo Invernomuto, comprised of Simone Bertuzzi and Simone Trabucchi, who have been active since 2003. Correale's piece, "A Spectacular miscalculation of global asymmetry" (2019), employs AI to produce abstract oil-on-linen artworks set in sterile corporate environments. Fenara's "Struggle for Life" (2016) features ten clips that can only be viewed when security guards wear smartwatches, sourced from a hacked camera at a livestock farm. Invernomuto's "Vers l'Europa deserta, Terra Incognita" (2017) offers a video examining youth self-representation, highlighting members of the French rap group PNL.
