Diffusa. Vestire i luoghi: site-specific art interventions in Carpi
Since 2016, Carpi has hosted a series of site-specific art interventions curated by Luca Panaro, supported by a public-private partnership. Initially held at Palazzo dei Pio, the project has now expanded into the city. Titled "Diffusa. Vestire i luoghi" (Diffuse. Dressing the Places), the initiative aims to bring the historical and artistic stratification of archives and museums into public spaces, engaging a broad audience through contemporary art. Four artists created works that interact with the urban context. Giuseppe De Mattia's installation "Madri" (Mothers) at Portico Lungo displays ancient woodcut matrices from the museum, with one of the female work smocks on which the digitized matrices print again. Teresa Giannico's "The Peepshow" reconstructs a typical home seamstress interior using archival images from the Ethnographic Research Center, animated via a mutoscope. Francesco Pedrini's "Planetes (errante)" creates a solar system from the 13th-century Torre della Sagra, with a strobosphere-Sun and planets placed within a 2.5 km radius, referencing Renaissance astrology. Fabio Sandri's "Passaggio fotosensibile" at San Rocco green area interacts with Gianni Colombo's "Architettura cacogoniometrica-entrexit," using photosensitive material to record traces of passage over months. The exhibition runs until September 18, 2016, coinciding with the upcoming Festival Filosofia.
