Diego Marcon Wins MAXXI Bvlgari Prize with Video Work 'Ludwig'
The MAXXI Bvlgari Prize has been awarded to Diego Marcon (b. 1985), as announced by an international jury comprised of David Elliott, Yuko Hasegawa, Hans Ulrich Obrist, Hou Hanru, and Bartolomeo Pietromarchi. Filmmaker Giuseppe Tornatore presented the award. The jury commended Marcon for his ability to blend analog and digital languages, creating a poetic interplay of existential and global themes. His work, 'Ludwig' (2018), features a CGI video projection of a child dressed in a yellow shirt and blue sweater, tailored to complement MAXXI's architectural space. The prize also entails inclusion in the MAXXI Arte collection. Other contenders included Talia Chetrit (b. 1982) and the duo Invernomuto (Simone Bertuzzi, b. 1983, and Simone Trabucchi, b. 1982).
