Diego Marcon Wins Inaugural Club GAMeC Prize

award · 2026-05-05

Diego Marcon (Busto Arsizio, 1985) has won the first edition of the Club GAMeC Prize, announced by GAMeC director Giacinto di Pietrantonio. His winning work, Untitled (Head falling 01, 02, 03, 04, 05)—a loop of animations from two film cameras—will be acquired by Club GAMeC. The award ceremony took place at Residenza Casarotto in Albegno, owned by Giuseppe and Simonetta Casarotto. The exhibition (NOT) So Close, curated by Davide Giannella under The Blank ArtDate, features four artists born in the 1980s: Alessandro Agudio, Riccardo Benassi, Alessandro Di Pietro, and Diego Marcon. The show explores digital paradoxes of constant connection versus real distance. Agudio presents Lamberta e Margiotta, a wall-mounted aircraft of consumer objects. Di Pietro's Tomb Writer (Solve et Coagula) is an installation of signs carved into the floor. Benassi's Phonemenology – Post-Ringtone Society is a video installation on social changes from portable web technologies. A video performance by Masbedo (Nicolò Massazza, 1973, Milan; Iacopo Bedogni, 1970, Sarzana) was also featured, with sound design by Davide Tomat, referencing Ingmar Bergman's 1953 film Monica il desiderio and Michelangelo Antonioni's Zabriskie Point (1970). Masbedo's work addresses incomunicability in contemporary society.
