Diego Ibarra Sánchez's 'Hijacked Education' at Mudima Lab, Milan
At Mudima Lab in Milan, Diego Ibarra Sánchez presents his exhibition 'Hijacked Education,' showcasing 39 untitled photographs that illustrate how armed conflict disrupts children's education. According to UNICEF, more than 25 million children aged 6-15 (22%) in 22 nations affected by conflict are not attending school. The photographs depict bombed schools and ruined libraries, underlining the theme of resilience. Born in Zaragoza in 1982 and residing in Lebanon since 2014, Ibarra Sánchez has worked in various countries and co-founded MeMo in Turin. Collaborating with curators Irene di Maggio and Fabio Mantegna, the exhibition employs a black chromatic palette and classical framing, reflecting Ibarra Sánchez's extensive production efforts as a 'painter of light.'
