Diego Gualandris's 'Floralia' at ADA Project in Rome
At ADA Project in Rome's Trastevere district, Diego Gualandris (b. 1993, Alzano Lombardo) presents 'Floralia,' a solo exhibition honoring the ancient Roman goddess Flora. The show runs until May 24, 2026, at Via dei Genovesi, 35. Gualandris combines painting and music: a 1970s gramophone plays two tracks, 'The world in a flowerbed' and 'Floralia. Exhibition soundscape,' improvised by the artist on piano and his mother Francesca Pegurri on saxophone. The exhibition features nine medium- and small-scale canvases from 2026, including works titled 'Prinzendorf' (homage to Hermann Nitsch and his Schloss Prinzendorf), 'Albino,' 'Ortler,' 'Roma non esiste,' 'Oggi si ride,' and 'Fuori mimosa / Dentro rosa / A forma di cuore / Per trenta persone.' The works explore pagan fertility, eroticism, and lush vegetal forms. Gualandris is also known for his 2018 book 'Fiabette' (Altalena). The exhibition is accompanied by a vinyl record of the soundscape.
