Diego Esposito's LVX ILLVMINAT LVCEM spreads across Teramo venues

Diego Esposito, an 84-year-old painter and sculptor, returns to his hometown Teramo with a sprawling exhibition titled LVX ILLVMINAT LVCEM, running until September 10, 2024. Curated by Marco Meneguzzo and Aldo Iori and organized by Rotary Club Teramo Est in collaboration with Galleria Allegra Ravizza of Lugano, the show unfolds across multiple spiritually, socially, and culturally significant sites. It begins at L'Arca-Laboratorio per le Arti Contemporanee, where ten large and medium-sized intimate, often monochrome works explore space and light, including Cosmogonia (2023), a dynamic installation of sixteen monochrome panels that play with light reflections. At the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, the titular work LVX ILLVMINAT LVCEM—a golden ceramic slab on white linen—references a stone inscription on the cathedral's facade and pays homage to the golden luminosity of Jacobello del Fiore's 1439 polyptych, recently restored. Other venues include the Biblioteca regionale 'Melchiorre Delfico' (showcasing paper works, travel notebooks, and watercolors inspired by poetic and philosophical texts), the Pinacoteca Civica (featuring the diptych L'arte è sempre contemporanea, a reinterpretation of a Roman mosaic pavement fragment), and the Villa Comunale di Teramo, where the sculpture Mappa Celeste is permanently installed.
