Diário Contemporâneo Prize Marks 10th Edition in Belém with Acquisitions for Public Museums

In 2019, the 10th edition of the Diário Contemporâneo Prize Project took place at the Museu do Estado do Pará (MEP) and the Museu de Arte da Universidade Federal do Pará (MUFPA) in Belém, Brazil. Under the coordination of Mariano Klautau Filho, the event emphasizes contemporary art with a particular focus on photography. A selection committee comprising Octavio Cardoso, Heldilene Reale, and Isabel Gouvêa chose works from Brazilian artists. Among the notable entries are 'Não leve flores' by Rodrigo Pinheiro and Ton Zaranza, 'Renomes' by Julia Milward, and 'Angelus' by Maria Baigur. MUFPA also hosted a special exhibition celebrating the 10th anniversary, showcasing pieces from the Diário Contemporâneo Collection. Winning artworks are integrated into public collections via collaborations with Museu da Casa das Onze Janelas and MUFPA, thereby enriching institutional collections. The jury changes each year.
