Diari d’artista Podcast Gives Voice to Artists in Lockdown
The independent podcast "Diari d’artista" launched on March 31, 2020, on platforms including Spotify, Spreaker, and iTunes. Created by art historian and museum educator Sara Marvelli without any production or distribution company, the project aims to give voice to artists in quarantine and create a collective memory of the pandemic. Participating artists include Francesca Fini, Giovanni Gaggia, Matteo Montani, and Nicola Verlato. Each episode features artists recounting their personal experiences of isolation, with original music produced by themselves and sound tracks by Time Escape. Marvelli was inspired by an artwork that mapped an Italian city using spray caps, each necessary to create a unique whole. She chose the podcast medium as a trend both during quarantine and in contemporary art. The project will conclude with a sound artist creating a "sound blob" reflecting on the lockdown days.
