Documents, a volume featuring approximately four hundred photographs spanning the American photographer's career from the 1940s to her death in 1971. Curated by Max Rosenberg, the book highlights Arbus's iconic portraits of outsiders—psychiatric patients, prostitutes, transsexuals, and individuals with malformations—captured with an anthropological eye. The 495-page publication includes critical texts by Jeffrey Fraenkel, Lucas Zwirner, and essays from Hilton Als, Holland Cotter, Germaine Greer, Hilton Kramer, Adrian Searle, and Susan Sontag, collected from 1967 onward.
