Diana Baldon Appointed Director of Kunsthal Aarhus
Italian curator and art historian Diana Baldon (b. 1974) has been named the new director of Kunsthal Aarhus, one of Denmark's oldest art centers, founded in 1917 as Århus Kunstbygning. She succeeds Jacob Fabricius, who left in May 2021 to join Art Hub Copenhagen. Baldon, who has lived in Copenhagen for several years, holds a master's degree in Creative Curating from Goldsmiths College, London. Her previous roles include director of Index and Malmö Art Gallery in Sweden, and most recently director of Fondazione Modena Arti Visive. She will work alongside administrative director Iben Mosbæk. The board, chaired by Søren Taaning, cited her extensive experience and international perspective as key reasons for her appointment. Baldon expressed her honor at joining Kunsthal Aarhus, noting its experimental and critical approach that has brought innovative visual artists, researchers, and professionals from Denmark and abroad. She sees her appointment as a sign of Denmark's openness to changes shaping contemporary art as a global cultural force.
