Dian Suci Wins Max Mara Art Prize for Women with Spirituality and Craft Project
Dian Suci, an artist from Indonesia, has been awarded the tenth Max Mara Art Prize for Women, as revealed during the 61st Venice Biennale. This accolade, supported by Max Mara, Collezione Maramotti, and Museum MACAN Jakarta, is curated by Cecilia Alemani. Suci, who was born in 1985 in Kebumen and currently resides in Yogyakarta, was selected from five finalists by a jury that included Alemani and Venus Lau, the director of Museum MACAN. Her project, titled "Crafting Spirit: Cultural Dialogues in Heritage and Practice," delves into themes of spirituality and craftsmanship. The award entails a six-month residency in Italy, beginning in Assisi and continuing through Rome, Lecce, and Florence, leading to two solo exhibitions in 2027 at Museum MACAN and Collezione Maramotti.
