Dian Suci Wins Max Mara Art Prize for Women
Indonesian artist Dian Suci has been awarded the Max Mara Art Prize for Women, marking a shift in the prize's structure. After a decade based in London, the prize will now collaborate with international partners, starting with Jakarta's Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (Museum MACAN). The prize, established in 2005 by Max Mara in collaboration with the Whitechapel Gallery, supports female-identifying artists. Suci, known for her work exploring themes of identity and diaspora, will receive a six-month residency in Italy and a solo exhibition at the Whitechapel Gallery. The partnership with Museum MACAN expands the prize's reach beyond Europe, reflecting a growing focus on global perspectives in contemporary art.
