Dian Suci Becomes First Indonesian Winner of Max Mara Art Prize for Women

Dian Suci, a multimedia artist from Yogyakarta, has become the first Indonesian recipient of the prestigious Max Mara Art Prize for Women for the 2025–27 cycle. The award, which celebrates its 20th anniversary, aims to promote emerging and midcareer female artists and will feature Suci's work at Jakarta's Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Nusantara (Museum MACAN). Born in 1985 and a single mother, Suci's art explores women's political roles in Indonesia. Her project, Crafting Spirit, will take her to Italy, including cities like Assisi and Rome, for six months, supported by Collezione Maramotti, culminating in solo exhibitions in 2027.
