Dialoghi di filo: Student Textiles at Palazzo Morando

exhibition · 2026-05-05

Curated by Livia Crispolti, the exhibition 'Dialoghi di filo' at Palazzo Morando Attendolo Bolognini in Milan showcases textile works by students from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera. The show runs until September 25, 2016, within the historic setting of the palazzo's 18th-century apartments and its Pinacoteca, which documents Milan's urban and social history from the 17th to 19th centuries. The exhibition features fabric samples, weavings, and historical costume reconstructions by Maria Antonietta Tovini, using materials from Italian textile companies Alcantara®, Dedar, and Dreamlux. Also on display are embroidered inserts by Elisabetta Catamo, reinterpreting these companies' fabrics. Crispolti, who teaches the Cultura Tessile course at Brera, sometimes physically instructs students on loom use. The exhibition explores the relationship between education, production, and creation, with works displayed in cases, on pedestals, and within boiserie niches.
