Diabolik Turns 60: Stamps, Stickers, Tarot, and a New Film

publication · 2026-04-27

Diabolik, the iconic Italian comic book character created by Angela Giussani on November 1, 1962, celebrates its 60th anniversary with a series of initiatives. The Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato issued a stamp honoring Giussani (born June 10, 1922), printed in over 500,000 copies, featuring her at a typewriter with Diabolik in the background. A related exhibition opened at the Poste Italiane Philately Office in Via Cordusio 4, Milan, displaying original comics, objects, and Giussani's desk with her Olivetti typewriter. Panini published a sticker album titled "I mille volti di Diabolik" with over 270 stickers, including a contest for 60 original sketches. Lo Scarabeo released a new edition of the 1968 comic "Diabolik chi sei?" with artwork by Corrado Roi, and a limited-edition tarot deck (1,962 copies) with cards by Sergio and Paolo Zaniboni. Astorina published a 2023 calendar featuring Eva Kant. A three-day exhibition, "I mille volti del numero uno," ran during Milan Games Week & Cartoomics (November 25–27), displaying original 1962 plates and remakes. The second film in the Manetti Bros series, "Ginko all'attacco!," premiered November 17, starring Miriam Leone, Valerio Mastandrea, Giacomo Gianniotti as Diabolik, and Monica Bellucci. The third film is scheduled for 2023.
