Di-Se Festival Brings Top Illustrators to Domodossola

The third edition of Di-Se. Disegnare il territorio opens May 6 in Domodossola, Italy, featuring illustrators Elisa Macellari, Paolo Metaldi, and Paola Tassetti. Curated by Paolo Lampugnani, the festival takes over the historic Collegio Mellerio Rosmini, with each artist creating site-specific exhibitions that dialogue with the venue's collections. Metaldi's 'Il vagabondo delle lune' is installed among 60,000 antique volumes in the library, blending illustration, design, and architecture. Macellari's 'Qualcosa in meno' occupies the refectory and Sala Liberty, showcasing her colorful, exotic style known from her graphic biography of Yayoi Kusama. Tassetti's 'Fanerogamica. Metamorfosi tassonomica' fills the Museo di Scienze Naturali, where her floral works interact with 19th-century natural history collections. Emerging artist Sofia Maltempi, with a critical text by Marco Goran Romano, greets visitors at the entrance. Lampugnani described drawing as the foundational tool for all art forms, noting illustration's accessibility to non-expert and younger audiences. The festival runs through July 2, with collateral events across the city to be announced on the Musei d'Ossola website.
