Dharq Arquitectos' Sliding Doors House in Chile's Casablanca Valley

Founded in 2019 by Patricio Huidobro in Santiago, the Chilean architecture firm Dharq Arquitectos has been included in the Wallpaper* Architects' Directory 2026. The studio focuses on residential designs in rural regions that lack urban amenities, integrating research, construction, and design. Their projects often originate from prototypes that explore structural and environmental concepts. Drawing inspiration from Buckminster Fuller and Reyner Banham, they conceptualize buildings as systems. One notable project, the Sliding Doors House (Casa Corredera) in the Casablanca Valley, features twenty-two sliding panels for optimal light and airflow, supported by a lightweight timber and steel framework on concrete piers. Huidobro also teaches at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, emphasizing efficient infrastructure and self-sufficient living.
