Dhaka Art Summit 2016 Features 300 Artists with 13 New Commissions

The Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy is hosting the third edition of the Dhaka Art Summit, featuring a diverse array of exhibitions, performances, and discussions. This hybrid event sees the participation of nearly 300 artists, curators, and writers from both South Asia and around the globe. Among the seventeen solo projects are newly commissioned pieces by notable figures such as Lynda Benglis, Tino Sehgal, Shumon Ahmed, and Wah Nu, along with others like Simryn Gill and Dayanita Singh. Nikhil Chopra is co-curating a performance segment, while workshops on critical writing include contributors from ArtReview and ArtReview Asia, the latter being the summit's media sponsor. The event commenced on January 21, 2016, and merges elements of a biennial, symposium, festival, and conference.
