Dezeen's July Roundup: Sustainable Furniture and Lighting Innovations
In July, Dezeen's design team showcased a selection of furniture and lighting that highlighted sustainability and playful aesthetics. Among the standout pieces was Becca Panter's ReFrame wardrobe, crafted from folded steel for easy recycling and a recipient of three awards at New Designers. Jermaine Gallacher curated the display of City Girls' distinctive lamps—Zoe, Pamela, and Jean—at the Ragged School in London Bridge. The Screwssssss stool by Matteo Voisin allows for simple disassembly, while Jorge Suárez-Kilzi's Barefoot Table features angled legs. Em Ef Studio's Heimatlos Chair is made from biodegradable PLA through 3D printing. Minjae Kim's Othko Lamp incorporates translucent fibreglass, and Emily Savill's Lopsy Lily stool is made from recycled aluminium. Sami Kimberley's Clam Crete bench utilizes invasive Golden Clam shells to create sustainable concrete.
