Deutsche Bank Opens PalaisPopulaire Art Center in Berlin

Deutsche Bank is opening PalaisPopulaire, a new center for art, culture, and sports, in the former Prinzessinnenpalais on Unter den Linden in Berlin. The 3,000-square-meter space, with one-third dedicated to art, will host exhibitions, concerts, sports events, and educational programs. The center will also display a significant portion of the Deutsche Bank Collection, which includes works by Joseph Beuys, Gerhard Richter, and Sigmar Polke. Svenja von Reichenbach, previously director of the Deutsche Bank Kunsthalle, will lead the center. The inaugural exhibition, "The World on Paper," curated by Friedhelm Hütte, features over 300 works on paper by 133 artists from 34 countries. The center will also present the "Artist of the Year" award. Partnerships include the Tate, MAXXI Rome, Legion of Honor Museum San Francisco, Berliner Philharmoniker, and German Sports Aid Foundation. A collaboration with MAXXI brings the first solo exhibition in Italy and Europe of Caline Aoun, winner of the 2018/2019 Artist of the Year award. The opening is scheduled for September 27.
