Deulkkotsoop 'Field · Flower · Forest' Café by Myungin Architects Opens in South Korea

architecture-design · 2026-08-17

Myungin Architects, led by Jeon Jaehong, has completed the Deulkkotsoop 'Field · Flower · Forest' Café in South Korea, a single-story coffee shop designed to blend into its natural landscape. The project, curated by Miwa Negoro, covers an area of 2,317 square meters and was completed in 2025. The design team included Kim Sanghoon, Shin Uitak, and Han Seohee, with landscape architecture by THE SUP and general contracting by YEIL SYNTHESIS CONSTRUCTION Co., Ltd. Photographs were taken by Hong Kiwoong. The architects' approach was to let the architecture recede, allowing the existing landscape to remain the protagonist. They chose a single-story structure not as a formal decision but as an attitude toward the land, aiming for visitors to remember the place before the building. The project reflects a philosophy that architecture can create a landscape, but better architecture allows the landscape to remain.
