Dessn Raises $6M for Production-Focused Design Tool

Dessn, a design startup established by Gabriella Hachem and Nim Cheema, has successfully secured $6 million in funding, spearheaded by Connect Ventures, alongside contributions from Betaworks and N49P. This innovative tool enables teams to operate their codebases in the cloud without incurring setup expenses, simplifying dependencies for seamless iteration on pre-existing code. Among its clientele are health company Color, voice AI enterprise Wispr, and fintech Mercury. Dessn caters to teams with established codebases rather than new projects. It provides a free tier featuring one repository and five prompts weekly, while paid subscriptions commence at $39 per user monthly. The firm intends to incorporate tools like Slack and Granola, but not Figma. Betaworks partner Jordan Crook noted that Dessn resembles a tool Figma would have created if it were launching today. Currently, the team consists of four members, with plans for modest expansion.
