Desplechin Stages Duras's La Musica Deuxième at Théâtre du Vieux-Colombier

other · 2026-08-18

At Théâtre du Vieux-Colombier in Paris, Arnaud Desplechin directs La Musica deuxième, Marguerite Duras's play about a divorced couple meeting one last time in a hotel lobby in Évreux. The man waits for a call from his partner, while the woman must join her new husband, yet they cannot stop talking. Through the night, memories, regrets and desire resurface. This is Desplechin's third collaboration with the Comédie-Française. He uses a bifrontal staging, turning the stage into a fragile encounter between dance, desire and memory, blending everyday dialogue with poetic flights. The production runs from 30 September to 11 November 2026. Performances are Tuesday at 7pm, Wednesday to Saturday at 8:30pm, and Sunday at 3pm. Tickets range from €8 to €39.
