Designers' Saturday 2018: Swiss Design Event Partners with Japan
The Designers' Saturday (DS) event took place in Langenthal, Switzerland, from November 16 to 18, 2018, with Japan as the featured guest country and partnerships with design schools from three different Swiss linguistic areas. Established in 1987, this biennial gathering drew more than 18,000 attendees across seven production locations, highlighting creativity and innovation. The preview on Friday included 'DS TALK: IMPROVE – SHARE – CONNECT,' hosted by curator Jan D. Geipel alongside six international designers. ClassiCon received the DS Awards for studio Sebastian Herkner and Naoki Terada, while inter.office with Koichi Suzuno: TORAFU ARCHITECTS was also recognized. Special mentions went to Création Baumann and Feuerring, and the DS Public Award was awarded to Dietiker. USM showcased 'USMRollPlay' by Ren Yee at the historic Ruckstuhl carpet factory, featuring a design inspired by carpets dating back to 1881.
