Designer Georgie Wright Crafts Her Own Wedding Dresses and Handbag for Palermo Celebration

Georgie Wright, the co-founder of The Veil, a London-based bag brand, crafted several wedding dresses along with a bespoke handbag for her wedding to Charles Forte, who serves as the vice president of development at Rocco Forte Hotels. Their nuptials occurred in Palermo, Sicily, at the Cattedrale di Monreale and Villa Igiea, a hotel under the Rocco Forte brand. Wright, previously associated with McQueen and Celine and a contributor to US Vogue, designed a gown influenced by Audrey Hepburn's Ascot dress from My Fair Lady, complemented by a family heirloom veil adorned with micro beadwork, which took four months to perfect at The Veil's factory in India. Additionally, she created a custom ivory mini Melt bag as a precursor to an upcoming bridal collection. Following the ceremony, a dinner was held in the Benedictine Cloister, arranged with assistance from Lady Aliai Forte. Wright's outfit featured a Viktor Gichev opera coat, vintage '20s earrings from SJ Phillips, and a borrowed necklace from Berganza. Among the bridesmaids were Adwoa Aboah, Jazzy de Lisser, and Gala Gordon. The event showcased decor by Anna Boglione, culinary delights by Fulvio Pierangelini, who prepared ravioli for 300 guests, and entertainment from Alan Power & The Take Twos. A pavlova cake paid tribute to Wright's heritage. The couple first crossed paths nine years ago through Charles's cousin and became engaged on New Year's Eve 2024 in Mustique.
