Design.Ve 2018: Design After Darwin in Venice

The biennial festival Design.Ve, now in its second edition, is taking place in Venice until June 17, 2018. Hosted by VeniceArtFactory, this event coincides with the 16th International Architecture Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, overseen by curators Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara. The exhibition at Palazzo Morosini Gatterburg revolves around the theme "Design After Darwin. Adapted to Adaptability." This year marks a significant growth in participation compared to the 2016 edition, which showcased 80 designers across 12 venues. The festival aims to highlight Venice as a progressive hub, where a dwindling local population coexists with tourists and students, emphasizing the integration of residential, commercial, and cultural spaces. Free admission is available at select locations, and various events are scheduled, including Library 2018 at Palazzo Contarini Polignac, an Estonian design house in Castello, and a solo exhibition by Alessandro Diaz de Santillana at Marignana Arte.
