Design Space AlUla: Saudi Arabia's First Permanent Design Gallery Opens
The AlJadidah Arts District in AlUla, Saudi Arabia, is now home to Design Space AlUla, the region's first permanent design gallery. This innovative space, crafted by Giò Forma, showcases a structure made of corten steel, glass, and polished concrete, drawing inspiration from local windbreak portals. Under the direction of Sara Ghani, the gallery aims to engage both professionals and design enthusiasts through a variety of exhibitions and workshops. The opening exhibition, titled "Mawrid: Celebrating Inspired Design," commenced on February 15, 2024, featuring ten projects influenced by the AlUla oasis, including contributions from Giò Forma Studio, Hopkins Architects, Roth Architecture, SAL Architect, and Prior + Partners. Additionally, it highlights finalists from the second AlUla Design Award and excerpts from the AlUla Design Residency, with the logo created by Clara Sancho Studio and 29Letters.
