Design scholar Vanni Pasca dies at 70

Vanni Pasca, born Giovanni Pasca Raymondi, a prominent design theorist and professor at Politecnico di Milano, has died. He chaired the undergraduate and master's design programs at the University of Palermo from 1999 to 2009, coordinated the PhD program, and taught design history. He also taught at IULM in Milan and ISIA in Florence. Pasca served as scientific director of the Abadir Academy of Design and Visual Arts in Catania, was an Honorary Professor of the Italian Design Society (SID), and consulted for design companies including Authentics, Dada, De Padova, Driade, Molteni, Sawaya & Moroni, and Unifor. He authored numerous books, including 'Manuale di storia del design' (2019) and 'Il design nel futuro' (2010), and wrote for publications such as Area, Casabella, Domus, and Il Sole 24 Ore. He founded and directed the online magazine padjournal.net. In 2020, he received the Career Award at the 26th edition of the Compasso d'Oro – ADI, Italy's most important design award. He curated exhibitions in Milan, Verona, Palermo, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Frankfurt, Madrid, Barcelona, Lisbon, and Istanbul. In 2018, he curated the 'Politics' section of the 'Storie' exhibition at the Triennale di Milano's Design Museum. His death was announced on his Facebook page.
