Design on a Dime Moves to Storied on West 26th Street for One-Night Benefit on May 5

Design on a Dime, the annual shopping benefit for Housing Works, will occur on May 5 at a new Manhattan venue: Storied on West 26th Street. This year's event shifts from its previous three-day format at the Metropolitan Pavilion to a single evening. Leading New York designers create shoppable vignettes of donated home goods, art, and furniture, sold at significant discounts to raise funds. Proceeds support Housing Works' initiatives addressing the AIDS epidemic, including housing, healthcare, advocacy, and wellness programs. Event founder James 'Ford' Huniford is stepping down after 20 years. Co-chair Joy Moyler, recalling the AIDS epidemic's impact on her colleagues, emphasized the ongoing need for support. The 2025 roster includes designers like Rayman Boozer, Mark Cunningham, Alexa Hampton, Redd Kaihoi, Robert Stilin, Steven Gambrel, and Yellow House Architects. Moyler recounted a past vignette where a fistfight over artwork from Wendover led to a quick sell-out. New co-chairs joining Moyler include Jamie Drake, Cliff Fong, Elissa Grayer, Young Huh, David Kaihoi, Charlotte Moss, and Miles Redd. Despite fewer vignettes this year, the designer lineup remains prominent. Moyler described Huniford as a 'legend' for his fundraising efforts and selfless integrity.
