Deserto Italia: Stefano Torrione's Photos on Drought and Climate Crisis at MUSE
On June 16, coinciding with World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought, MUSE in Trento opens the photography exhibition 'Deserto Italia' by Stefano Torrione. The project, ongoing since 2022 and concluding at the end of this year, documents Italian landscapes affected by climate change. Torrione, a photojournalist from Aosta Valley, traversed glacial, river, and lake areas on foot, capturing 22 black-and-white images that explore the concept of 'desert' and the visible 'wounds' inflicted by the climate crisis across Italy from north to south. The exhibition is part of MUSE's broader environmental engagement, following the 'We are the Flood' project conceived with artist Stefano Cagol, who is also the new director of Castel Belasi. That program included exhibitions, residencies, conferences, and masterclasses on art and the Anthropocene.
