Desclée de Brouwer launches art-and-theology series with Paul conversion volume
Benoît Chantre has conceived a new collection for Desclée de Brouwer that pairs biblical themes with paintings, fiction, art history, and theological commentary. Three volumes have already been published, including one on the conversion of Saint Paul. The volume features works by Parmigianino, Moretto, Carracci, and Caravaggio, and includes a text by Patrick Kéchichian titled 'Le signe distinctif'. Kéchichian reflects on the challenge of engaging with a mystical experience that is foundational to Christianity, balancing reverence and personal resonance. The collection offers a multi-voice meditation on the story of Saul's fall and rise as Paul.
