Depero's Futurist Takeover at Milan's Bagatti Valsecchi Museum

Milan's Bagatti Valsecchi Museum has been transformed into a Futurist residence with the exhibition 'Depero Space to Space. La creazione della memoria,' running until August 2, 2026. The show juxtaposes the 19th-century historic home of barons Fausto and Giuseppe Bagatti Valsecchi with the avant-garde work of Fortunato Depero (1892–1960), a leading Futurist artist. Organized in collaboration with the Mart in Rovereto, the exhibition fills each room with Depero's colorful paintings, sculptures, and installations, creating a theatrical dialogue between past and future. Highlights include a circus-themed hall reflecting Depero's passion for circus arts, a tribute to his graphic design work for Campari, and the rotating installation 'Dinamopoly' by Gaetano Cappa, inspired by Depero's stays in New York in the 1930s and 1940s. The show also features Depero's floral compositions, his collaborations with ENIT for tourism promotion, and futuristic tube sculptures reminiscent of Sottsass and Mendini. The experience is enhanced by sound effects by Gaetano Cappa and a series of Futurist aperitifs held in the museum's wardrobe, transformed into the ViBi Bar of Bolzano, originally designed by Depero.
